I wrestled with the thought of sharing this… As I went back and forth the holy spirit kindly reminded spoke and said "In your weakness, I am mad strong." 2 Chorinthians 12:9-11

The Root of Healing: How God is Revealing the Cause of My Skin Condition
For years, I struggled with ongoing skin issues, flare-ups, irritation, and sensitivities that no product, diet, or routine seemed to fix. I prayed for healing, expecting a sudden transformation, but instead, God led me on a journey much deeper than I anticipated. He began revealing that true healing isn’t just about what we see on the surface; it starts from within.
Healing Beyond the Surface: When Issues Are Written in Our DNA
As I grew closer to Christ, I began to realize my skin condition wasn’t just a random occurrence, it had been passed down through generations. My battle with psoriasis wasn’t only external; it was written in my DNA. Studies on epigenetics have shown that trauma, stress, and even emotional wounds can leave an imprint on our genes, affecting not only us but also future generations (Yehuda & Bierer, 2009). What we carry in our hearts, bitterness, unforgiveness, anxiety can mark not only our own health but the legacy we pass down.
Science is now confirming what the Bible has long told us: we are not just physical beings. What affects our minds and spirits can manifest in our bodies, and sometimes, it even alters our genetic expression. Exodus 20:5 speaks of how the consequences of sin can extend for generations, but praise God, through Christ, we are no longer bound by generational cycles. Healing is available, not just for us but for the generations that come after us.
Listening to What My Body Was Saying
I often tried to treat the symptoms, but the cycle continued. It wasn’t until I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to pause and ask, “What is your body trying to tell you?” that I realized my skin was reflecting something deeper. Through prayer and reflection, God showed me that my body was holding onto stress, past hurts, and even spiritual burdens that needed to be surrendered.
Those small thoughts matter. The ones we do nothing with, the ones we shove under the rug, they matter. They don’t just disappear; they take root in our minds, our hearts, and even our bodies. Healing isn't about what I think should be enough, It’s not my standard of healing that heals me, but His.
Research in psychodermatology reveals that stress and unresolved emotional trauma can trigger or worsen hereditary conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and other inflammatory skin diseases (Arck et al., 2010). A study published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology found that chronic stress can even alter immune responses and gene expression, making hereditary conditions more severe (Kiecolt-Glaser et al., 2002).
If stress and emotional wounds can turn genetic markers on and off, then what happens when we invite God into those deep places? Could surrendering unforgiveness, resentment, and fear change not only our spiritual health but our physical and even generational health?
The Spiritual Connection to Physical Healing
Scripture reminds us that healing is holistic, encompassing our physical, emotional, and spiritual selves. Proverbs 3:7-8 (NIV) says,
"Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."
This aligns with research on faith and healing, which shows that people who engage in prayer and spiritual reflection often experience lower levels of inflammation, improved stress management, and a stronger immune system (Koenig et al., 2012). As I drew nearer to Christ, I discovered that my healing wasn’t solely dependent on skincare routines or dietary adjustments, it required releasing inner burdens and trusting in His process.
Healing Our Homes Starts with Healing Ourselves
Over time, I realized that personal healing doesn’t just transform us, it transforms our homes. The stress, resentment, and unhealed wounds we carry seep into our daily lives, affecting our relationships and the atmosphere around us. Studies even suggest that high levels of stress within a family can elevate cortisol levels in children, impacting their overall well-being (Gunnar & Quevedo, 2007).
If we truly desire thriving families and communities, we must start with a healed heart, a heart fully surrendered to Christ.
Steps Toward Healing
Healing is a partnership. God does His part, and we must actively participate in ours. Here are some steps I’ve embraced on this journey:
Prayer & Reflection: Asking God to reveal any emotional or spiritual roots connected to my condition.
Breaking Generational Patterns: Acknowledging that while my condition may have been passed down, I am not bound by it. Through Christ, generational cycles can be broken.
Surrendering Stress: Learning to cast my anxieties on Him (1 Peter 5:7) and trust His plan for healing.
Nourishing My Body & Soul: Choosing whole, healing foods while feeding my spirit with God’s truth. Research supports those anti-inflammatory foods, rich in omega-3s and antioxidants, can improve skin conditions (Bowe & Logan, 2011).
Speaking Life: Replacing negative thoughts about my health with God’s promises of restoration (Jeremiah 30:17). Studies show that positive affirmations and faith-based meditation reduce stress and promote healing (Critchley et al., 2016).
Creating a Healed Atmosphere: Establishing a peaceful home environment by prioritizing rest, worship, and intentional living.
Are You Listening to What Your Body Is Saying?
Maybe you, too, are in a season where your body is trying to tell you something deeper. Have you taken the time to ask God to reveal the root of your struggles? Are there areas of stress, unforgiveness, or imbalance in your life that need His gentle touch?
Even when our challenges seem hereditary or inevitable, God’s power transcends genetics. His Word is alive, and His healing is available to all who seek Him.
Healing isn’t always instant, but God is faithful, leading us step by step toward restoration. I’d love to hear your thoughts, have you experienced unexpected healing in your journey?

Let’s walk this path together, knowing that a healed heart nurtures not only our own well-being but also the health of our homes and generations to come.
A healed home is a healed society.
May we continue to seek Christ’s wholeness, for He is the path to true restoration, mind, body, and spirit.
Yes, fear, stress and anxiety (as well as many other spirits), ours - because we have opened the door to them, and generational- will do much to our bodies. Along with this we need to recognize, renounce, repent and command those spirits leave us and come out of agreement with them, restore others, and focus more on God‘s truth. I will not let the word of God depart from before my eyes. I found it and it is life for me and it is health and healing to all my flash.
His word is medicine to take daily 🙌🏼
