I've Always believed that God is intentional with everything, especially our names. They aren’t just labels; they are declarations. Prophetic glimpses into who we are, what we carry, and the purpose we’re meant to fulfill.

My name, Alexis Nickelle, means “Defender and helper who brings victory to the people.” When I discovered that, I wept, not because it sounded nice, but because it confirmed something with in God had already been whispering to my heart my whole life. My life’s call to fight for healing in the home, to speak truth in love, and to help others walk in freedom, it was written in my name all along.

But here’s the thing…The enemy is after meaning. Because if he can distort your definition, he can confuse your direction.

He’s a liar, a perverter of truth. He tries to twist what God speaks clearly. He wants to rename us with shame, insecurity, comparison, anxiety, and fear. But the beautiful truth is this: God is the original Author of meaning.

From the beginning of time, He’s been naming His people with purpose:

• Abram became Abraham, the father of many nations.

• Jacob became Israel, one who wrestles with God and prevails.

• Sarai became Sarah, a mother of nations.

  
  

And now? He’s still doing it. He’s rewriting stories. Restoring names. Redeeming meaning.
